Payroll processing and tax computation plays a critical role in any organization. For a small-business owner wearing multiple hats, this statutory requirement is the least favorite task to perform. Payroll has become complex and the penalties can be severe if not processed correctly. Technology helps perform the payroll tasks more effortlessly. CheckMark, Inc., a Fort Collins, CO based firm offers cost-effective payroll software solutions to companies in the small and medium segment. “Our Software and Services address this complexity by making it easy for our customers to process the payroll themselves using our software, or they can turn over all the processing to us by using our payroll services,” says Mohammed Ghani, CheckMark’s, President and CEO.
With over three decades of service, CheckMark, Inc. was one of the first companies to provide payroll and accounting software for the Apple Mac and Microsoft Windows platforms. Since then, CheckMark has added applications for 1099 and other business reporting, paper products, and Payroll Services to become a one-stop-shop for Payroll and Accounting Solutions.
The firm’s Accounting product MultiLedger™ is a highly-configurable, full-fledged accounting package containing accounts payables, receivables, general ledger, inventory, invoicing, bank account reconciliation, and financial reporting. It has built-in multi-user capabilities allowing up to ten cross-platform users to access the data simultaneously. The product is designed in such a way that it enables users to perform the entering of data on Windows OS and Mac OS platforms and view the financial reports on either platform at the same time.
By simplifying payroll complexities, CheckMark has played a vital role in transitioning several firms with their highly configurable software and innovative technologies. One such example is a trucking company who struggled to perform the payroll function with their old system.
“The CheckMark Team helped them come up with a totally integrated working solution,” says Ghani. “The client was able to integrate the employees, hours and mileage into payroll and send the information back to their trucking software to update the accounting seamlessly.”
“We have many customers, who use our or our partner’s time-clock solutions to transfer the employee’s hours into CheckMark Payroll automatically without re-entering any data. They can then process this data, calculate tax and deduction payments, and create paychecks. This information is used to generate the tax reports for quarterly or annual submissions. The checks to the employees as well as the payment toward the taxes and deductions can automatically be transferred to MultiLedger™ or exported to other major accounting systems. This does not require additional data entry and maintains the integrity of the accounting system.
“Having helped large organizations implement and leverage technology to streamline their operations, I am passionate about bringing these systems to Small and Medium Size Businesses at prices they can afford,” says Ghani. The key differentiating factors of CheckMark are their intuitive, simple, and easy to use products along with good service. “We are a small business ourselves, understand small business needs, and Payroll Processing is in our DNA,” adds Ghani.
